I made a wheel!

Treadle Wheel

I made it all myself!

Thats the first pot on that new wheel.  Im pretty happy with the wheel, it runs a lot slower and different than Im used to, but Im getting the hang of it, and starting to turn things out just like before.

Over the next little while (once I get the old camera photos back) Ill start posting and narrating some process on how I made the wheel.  I was also thinking I might make a video and post it on you tube just to show the wheel in action.

These were the plans that I got to go off of while making it, make sure you click one of those first links, just to see what I got to deal with!

  1. Looks like a good start, Kyle. I’m sure there’s an Empty Bowls project in the London area. I encourage you to do some work for it. I think you’ll find it too will expand your network of pottery folk. I’m about to host a couple of Sheridan students for a few days of intensive throwing.

Congratulations and all the best for 2010.
ps: I like the Isaac Button look.

  2. Kyle, leave it to you… That thing looks fantastic. I am personally terrified at what you are going to be up to in the next little while. I have no doubt it will be spectacular. Congratulations and keep me up to date. All the best and happy new year.

  3. Good luck throwing the Issac Button 28lb cider jars on a Leach treadle wheel. All the best, Tony

  4. Kyle, Great blog and pics. I know that more will be coming. I love the wheel. Good job. Looking forward to working with you at the London Potters Guild.

  5. Very cool wheel Kyle. I’m a member of the London Guild as well. I was at the meeting last night – but didn’t formally introduced myself. I’ve only been doing pottery for a year but love it. I’m looking forward to watching your blog develop and hopefully learning lots from you. Oh, and if you ever want to make another wheel…I’d be happy to have one. :)
